FORGE Privacy Policy
Introduction
FORGE, made by Abhishek Chakraborty, is a private strength-training app for iPhone. It has no accounts and no servers of its own. Nothing you record — workouts, saved workouts, body weight, or profile — is sent to me, and there is nowhere for me to send it.
By using FORGE you agree to this policy.
What FORGE stores
Everything below is created by you, on your iPhone, and stored in a database on your iPhone:
Workouts: exercises, sets, weights, reps, reps in reserve (RIR), notes, rest times, and the dates and durations of your workouts.
Saved workouts, custom exercises, and equipment: the ones you build or choose.
Profile: your name, birth date, sex, height, body weight entries, and a photo if you add one.
Training answers: your experience, any recent break, your focus, training days, workout length, and where you train. FORGE uses these on your iPhone to build your recommended plan.
Settings: units, default rest timer, week start day, and rest alert style.
FORGE contains no analytics, no tracking, no advertising, no advertising identifier, and no crash-reporting service. No usage statistics are collected. FORGE does not connect to the internet to send or receive your data.
Photos
If you add a profile photo, iOS shows its own photo picker, and FORGE receives only the one photo you choose. FORGE does not get access to the rest of your photo library. It keeps a copy of that photo on your iPhone, and the copy never leaves it. Backup files leave the photo out.
Notifications, alarms, and Live Activities
When a rest between sets ends, FORGE can tell you with a notification or, if you choose the Alarm alert style, with an alarm. A rest can also show as a Live Activity on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, with the workout name and the next set. These are scheduled on your iPhone. They do not use a push server, and FORGE needs no internet connection for them. Anyone who can see your Lock Screen can see a Live Activity, so end it or turn it off in iOS Settings if you prefer. You can turn off notifications, alarms, and Live Activities for FORGE in iOS Settings at any time.
Backups and exports
You choose when anything leaves FORGE:
Backup: a single JSON file with your workouts, saved workouts, custom exercises, profile, and settings (not your photo). You can import it later to restore your data. Importing replaces everything in FORGE with the contents of the file.
Exports: all sets as a CSV file, or a finished workout as a package (a ZIP, or one file at a time: JSON, CSV, and a Markdown summary).
These files are created on your iPhone. A file leaves your iPhone only when you pick a destination in the iOS share sheet, and from that point the receiving app or service's own policy applies. FORGE does not keep a copy after sharing, and I never see the file. Take care with where you send an export, as it contains your training history and your profile answers.
Apple's device backups
Like other apps, FORGE's data on your iPhone can be included in an iCloud or computer backup of your whole device, if you have those turned on in iOS. That is Apple's service, controlled by your device settings, and I cannot see or access it. FORGE does not use iCloud or CloudKit on its own.
Apple Health
FORGE does not read from or write to Apple Health.
Apple's own reporting
If you have agreed to share analytics with developers in iOS Settings, Apple may give me aggregate, anonymous statistics about crashes and downloads. That is Apple's collection, not the app's, and I cannot identify you from it.
Children
FORGE is not directed at children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect any information from anyone, since FORGE collects nothing.
Deleting your data
Deleting a workout, a saved workout, a custom exercise, or a body weight entry in the app removes it from your iPhone. Deleting the app removes everything FORGE stored on the device, including your profile photo. Backup files you exported are removed wherever you saved or sent them. A device backup in iCloud or on your computer is managed in iOS or your computer.
Security
Your data stays on your iPhone, protected by your iPhone's passcode and encryption. There is no server to breach. No method of electronic storage is completely secure, and absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
